#1 What are anal warts?

Anal warts are fleshy, small growths, skin changes, or bumps, which appear on or around the anal area.

Anal warts can often be caused via HPV, otherwise known as the human papilloma virus, which is a common sexually transmitted disease.

You may be at risk of developing anal warts if you have an immune system that is compromised by medication or illness. Other people at risk include those who have sex with someone who has HPV, individuals who have anal intercourse, those with numerous sexual partners, and people who do not have protected sex.

#2 What are the symptoms of anal warts?

Anal warts can often occur without any discomfort or pain. Symptoms of anal warts are rare but they can include discharge, bleeding, or itching from the anus. A person who has anal warts may also feel like there is a lump in their anal area. Some people also experience warts on other parts of their body as well.

#3 Enjoy a comfortable life again with anal wart removal

Anal wart removal, which can be done on its own or alongside haemorrhoids treatment, is offered here at our clinic.

The treatment is carried out by our colorectal surgeon, Mr Alex Von Roon, and his team of experts.

This treatment can be done in one day, meaning you won’t need to stay overnight. It is pain-free, and a lot of people will have their consultation and treatment within the same day.

The surgery will typically be done under a local anaesthetic, which means that you are not going to experience any pain. You remain awake and only the treatment area is numbed so that you do not feel anything. The procedure will typically take around 20 minutes.

#4 How long is the recovery time?

You can expect to feel sore for a few days. However, the recovery time is pretty quick overall. Of course, it does depend on how much surgery you have had. You should be able to return to work within a few days. You can expect a full recovery within three weeks, by which time you should have no issue resuming your typical activities.
